  • Delta Airlines flight attendant Victoria Flees trudged through the snow with her bags in downtown Minneapolis on the way back home from the light rail station after her flight to Paris was grounded along with all other planes at MSP because of a severe April snowstorm.
  • Members of the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Local Union 130 stired up green dye in the Chicago River as part of the annual St. Patrick's Day festivities in Chicago.
  • Ty Meyer, 12, laid atop his horse, Jake, a 12-year-old Belgian draft, as he slept in his stall in the horse barn during opening day at the Minnesota State Fair in St. Paul, Minn.
  • Jim Christenson, a diver with the Great Lakes Shipwreck Preservation Society, explored the stern winch on the Madeira, a schooner barge that sank in Lake Superior on November 28, 1905, at about 65 feet below the surface during a project dive near Split Rock Lighthouse south of Two Harbors, Minn.
  • Adam Fredrick yawned as he laid with his daughter Michaela at Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora, Colo. Michaela was deprived of oxygen at birth and suffers from crippling and potentially life-threatening seizures. Her parents began treating her with medical marijuana after seeing a documentary on its benefits and once Adam was transferred from Washington, Ill. to Colorado where it is legal. They say it has drastically reduced her number of seizures.
  • Marena Rudy twirled her son Campbell as they played in the Crown Fountain at Millennium Park on South Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
  • Ranchers in Saltillo, Mexico spent the day selling young goats on the street corner for cabrito, a roasted goat dish that is a popular regional specialty of the city of Monterrey and the surrounding area.
  • A taxidermied deer mount sat in the front seat of a mangled Jeep Wrangler after a tornado ripped through the town of Washington, Ill.
  • A pink vintage London taxi, the Langham hotel's signature house car, sat ready for guests on North Wabash Avenue in Chicago.
  • A firefighter touched the coffin of fallen firefighter Daniel Capuano as it rest on the back of an engine following funeral services at St. Rita High School in Chicago. Capuano, a 15-year veteran, was searching the second floor of a fire in a vacant warehouse when he fell down an open elevator shaft and died hours later.
  • Helen Palmer, the sister of 1st. Lt. Jack Saunders, paused while reminiscing about her brother at her home in Ogden, Utah. Saunders was a POW during the Korean War where he died in the 1980's. After DNA analysis state officals were finally able to return his remains to Utah for burial.
  • The moon passed in front of the sun for a total solar eclipse visible in August 2017 from Farmington, Mo.
  • Participants of a morning beach yoga class practiced their poses as police investigated the scene nearby where a body was discovered at North Avenue Beach in Chicago.
  • Members of the Navy's Leap Frogs and Army's Golden Knights parachute teams took in the view from the back of a C130h airplane as it flew over the John Hancock Center en route to the annual Air and Water Show in Chicago.
  • Kevin Stuedemann loved on his dogs Rosie and Cubby as he waited for his cows to be milked at his 100-acre organic farm in Belle Plaine, Minn. Stuedemann and his wife Meg almost lost their farm because of the weak agricultural economy and he had to take an off-farm job with a moving company to keep afloat financially. “When … you’re trying to make a living and can’t, I mean depression is a very real thing out here,” he said.
  • AIeasha Watson laughed while joking with Dr. Charles Barron during a health examination at the ACCESS Southwest Family Health Center in Chicago.
  • Attendees took their first swings in an attempt to break the Guinness world record for the largest pillow fight during PULSE, a student-led prayer and evangelism movement founded by Nick Hall, at The Armory in Minneapolis.
  • Alt-right nationalists and anti-fascist protesters clashed on the steps of the Minnesota State Capitol while supporters of President Donald Trump held a rally of their own in St. Paul, Minn.

  • Following her crowning as Miss Michigan, Kirsten Haglund met Dennis Hancock, husband of Miss Michigan judge Karen Hancock, at a reception at the Holiday Inn in downtown Muskegon, Mich.
  • Robin Swift treated Loverboy, center, and Blackie with cheese crackers during the two's nightly visit to the Swift's home in Tonica, Ill. Swift raised the two raccoons from infancy after they were abandoned by their mother. Despite living on their own in the wild, the two come back nightly to visit with the Swifts.
  • Leslie Kegan got a push from her daughter Lucille, 3, as she rode a skateboard down the alley behind their home on an unseasonably warm Decemeber day in northeast Minneapolis.
  • A man waved a Puerto Rican flag along the parade route during the annual Puerto Rican People's Parade on West Division Street in Chicago.
  • Jill Ciminillo, who runs the twitter account @GirlintheTrunk, handed her phone to Fred Ligouri so he could take a photo of her in the cargo area of a 2014 Chevrolet Spark during the media preview day for the Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place in Chicago. Ciminillo was on a mission to have her photo taken in as many trunks as she could during the show.
  • Nikki Villavicencio and Darrell Paulsen celebrated as gubernatorial candidate Erin Murphy spoke to the convention after she secured the party endorsement during the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party State Convention to choose their party's nominees at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, Minn.
  • Amahle, center, led Cupid and BJ around as the three African black footed penguins from the Como Zoo took a walk through the Sunken Garden as part of the enrichment program for the ambassador birds at the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory in St. Paul, Minn.
  • Shane Simonson, center, of Fort Collins stood with his fellow doolies after receiving their Airman Battle Uniforms during the freshman intake process at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.
  • Model legs rested on a shelf in a science lab at St. Louis Community College in Wildwood, Mo. The legs and other plastic body parts are used by the students to study muscle and bone groups.
  • Tim Lutz, a road truck driver at Illinois Cement Co., listened along with more than one hundred other members of United Steelworkers Local 657 during a workers rally in La Salle, Ill. The union had been working without a contract for months and were preparing to go on strike.
  • Seth Melvin, 15, who was born with a deformed leg and foot which he decided to have amputated, adjusted his prosthetic liner before his eighth grade graduation at Cornell Grade School in Cornell, Ill. Melvin accomplished one of his goals, to walk with a prosthetic to accept his diploma at graduation.
  • The sun started to break over the horizon as the city skyline glowed with artifical light in the early morning hours of the Polar Vortex at the Fullerton Street Beach along the frozen shore of Lake Michigan in Chicago.
